Dave Kinney, our owner, has over eighteen years or video production experience. He worked at various PBS stations in many positions, gaining invaluable experience. He's also freelanced throughout his career working on everything from from dramas to corporate videos to sports to news uplinks and everything in between.
Dave has worked on many award-winning productions and won five heartland Emmy awards for his work on Spirit of Colorado and Trains of the American West. He has worked with High Definition (HDTV) since 1999 and enjoys the increased resolution and color palette.

Fade to Black Media just completed purchasing a large assortment of production gear. It guarantees to make you look better! Part of the purchase was a SONY 300a DVCam. We chose a "full body" camera because it uses a larger optical system that creates a higher quality image. It also has a longer focal length lens allowing us to "zoom in" on you!

Fade to Black Media owner, Dave Kinney, will be teaching four classes this Fall. He'll be teaching two classes at the Colorado Film School out at the Lowry Campus. It's really two sections of the same course, Video Production II. It's a practical hands-on class in filmmaking. The students will be wring scripts, filming their projects on -location and then editing them back in the lab. It should be a lot of fun!
The other two classes are in the Department of Technical Communications at the Metropolitan State in Denver. The first class COM2420 is a Basic Video Production course with emphasis on single camera directing and working with the camera.
The second class is COM4401 Advanced Nonlinear video Editing. Editing is always a challenge because that's where it all comes together. I hope everybody is ready to be challenged!
